Impressive antique character portrait oil on canvas painting of an elderly woman wearing traditional warm clothing, fashionable long earrings and lace headdress. It is visibly signed to upper right corner by Edmond Van der Haeghen (Belgium, 1836 - 1919). A Belgian school loyal to impressionistic style. He lived in area of the North Sea that influenced his main theme, the fisherman's life, seascape, landscapes and expressive character portraits.
