Authentic "Countryside Scenery" oil on canvas by Frans van Damme (Belgium 1858-1925) features resting cows on a meadow with line of trees beside a stream and a typical Flemish countryside home and farmhouses. The painting is signed on the lower right corner and on the back of the canvas. Frans van Damme was known for his seascape and landscape scenery painting. He was a Professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp in 1885 and at the Fine Arts Academy of Brussels in 1887. He won several prestigious International Fine Art competitions such as the Rome Prize and the Gold Medals in Paris, France and St. Petersburg, Russia where the Hermitage Museum possess two of his fine paintings. He remained loyal to the 19th century impressionist realism.
This artwork will be delivered in an original custom made carved gilt wood with stucco handmade in Belgium. In very good condition with minor traces of wear, minor stucco chippings on frame with beautiful aging patina. Kindly refer to the images as integral part of the descriptions.
