Impressive antique gilded copper red Kutani porcelain incense burner. It features a seated happy Buddha on top of the lid, masterly crafted ruffled rim and hand-painted illustration of Japanese ruler and his subordinates, the flora and fauna in a landscape scenery, a reliëf of gilded knotted string on both sides and raised on foo dog figures tripod base. It has Nippon markings underneath, Japan circa 1900. In very good condition with traces of wear, minor restorations on ruffled rim and base and other details consistent to age and artisan craftsmanship.
