Stunning antique three piece adjustable fireplace fender. A creation of Henri Picard, active in Paris during 1831-1864. He was a well known French founder and gilder producing high quality decorative objects. He supplied tableware and fireplace trimmings for the "petits appartements du Louvre" as commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III of France. This fireplace chenet features richly decorated urn with flame finial, ram's head with lavish details, middle architectural columns and side galleries decorated with smaller urn and garlands. It has visible hallmarks CH RS "Y" and H. PICARD engraved at the back side of middle gallery. Made in France circa 1850's. In very good condition with original gilding, traces of wear, minor casting cracks, tarnish in places and other details consistent to age and artisan craftsmanship.
